The world has changed drastically over the last few months due to COVID-19, and if you’re like us – you’re now working completely from home. Working remotely for such an extended period will be a new experience for most of us, so we’ve put together 6 useful tips to help you conquer your new working arrangements.

1. Morning Routine

Get dressed, shower, have a coffee, whatever! Sticking to a routine will help signal to your brain that it’s time to get things done.

2. Create a workspace

One that feels separate from your home. It doesn’t need to be its own room, but make it comfortable, decorate it. Create a place you can arrive in the morning and leave at the end of the day.

3. Working hours

Start and finish your working day at the same time you normally would if you were still in the office. Have a morning coffee break, and try to have your lunch at a regular time each day.

4. Communication

Remember to say good morning and goodbye to your team! Try to stay in touch as if you were still working beside your colleagues, and prioritise face-to-face over messages and emails with tools like Zoom. We like to knock off on a Friday with a few games on Houseparty.

5. Move your body

Moving your body will help clear your mind. With the loss of a daily commute and the closure of gyms, a lot of us are feeling a little sluggish. Go for a jog or try joining an online gym. The Nike Training Club App is free, personalised to your body and goals, and a great workout motivator!

6. Remove distractions

Act as if you’re your own boss! Set daily goals for yourself and serious boundaries with others, they need to realise that this is your work time. The fewer things that distract you during your workday, the easier it will be to focus on what you’re doing.
